Michelle Frew
Head Softball Coach
Michelle Frew ’91 is a highly respected collegiate softball coach, currently serving as the Head Softball Coach at her alma mater, Eckerd College. She returned to Eckerd in June 2024 with an exceptional coaching résumé that spans more than 28 years at the NCAA Division II level and a career total exceeding 1,000 victories. In her first season leading the Tritons (2025), she guided the program to a 30-20 record, the second-most wins in school history, and helped the team set or break six single-season program records. Under her leadership, several Tritons earned high honors, including All-American and conference player of the year accolades in 2025.
Before returning to St. Petersburg, Frew was the head softball coach at the University of Charleston from 2021-24, where she led the Golden Eagles to two NCAA Tournament appearances and was named the Mountain East Conference’s Women’s Sports Coach of the Year in 2024 following a 51-8 season that culminated in a Women’s College World Series berth. Prior to Charleston, she spent 25 years at Rollins College (1995-2021), where she transformed the program into a consistent NCAA contender, earning multiple Sunshine State Conference championships and coach of the year honors. As a student-athlete at Eckerd, Frew excelled in both basketball and softball, earning All-conference honors in both sports and accumulating impressive career statistics before graduating in 1991. She holds a master’s degree in guidance counseling from Nova Southeastern University and is known for developing high-achieving student-athletes throughout her coaching career.
