Michael Marchiano is the head coach of the University of Maryland women's soccer team in College Park, Maryland, a position he officially assumed on December 10, 2024, after serving as the program's interim head coach beginning in October 2024.
A Maryland alumnus, Marchiano returned to his alma mater in November 2023 as an assistant coach with the women's program. His ties to the university date to his playing career, when he appeared in 59 matches as a midfielder for the Terrapins men's soccer team from 2005 through 2008. Maryland went 68-18-8 during those four seasons and won NCAA championships in 2005 and 2008. Marchiano was a two-time team captain and received the team's Peter Lowry Award as a senior, recognizing academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship. He graduated from Maryland in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in economics.
