Michael Klimchak
Assistant Coach
Michael Klimchak is an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s tennis programs at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), entering his 17th season on the Lions’ coaching staff in the 2024–25 academic year. A former standout student-athlete at TCNJ, Klimchak has built a long and impactful career with the program, contributing both as an elite competitor and as a coach dedicated to player development and academic success. Since joining the coaching staff shortly after completing his playing career, he has been an integral part of one of the most successful tennis programs in NCAA Division III, supporting teams that have consistently won conference championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
As a player from 2004 to 2008, Klimchak established himself as one of the most accomplished men’s tennis athletes in TCNJ history. He was a three-time All-American, earning ITA and NCAA All-America honors in singles and qualifying multiple times for the NCAA Doubles Championships. In 2007, he finished seventh at the ITA National Small College Championships and followed that with a quarterfinal appearance at the 2008 NCAA Division III Singles Championships, concluding his senior year ranked seventh nationally in both singles and doubles. Klimchak graduated as the program’s all-time leader in combined singles and doubles victories and still ranks among the school’s career leaders in both categories. A native of Clark, New Jersey, he holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a math, science, and technology concentration and a master’s degree in education from TCNJ, reflecting his strong commitment to both teaching and coaching.
