Michael Collins

Assistant Coach

Michael Collins is in his 15th season as an assistant coach with the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s basketball program. A Stevens alumnus (Class of 2007), he has been a steady presence on the Ducks’ bench through an extended run of success, helping the program produce 11 consecutive seasons of at least 18 wins. During his tenure, Stevens has reached the NCAA Tournament three times, made 14 conference tournament appearances, captured an Empire 8 regular-season title, won three MAC Freedom Tournament championships, and claimed an ECAC Metro Championship. Collins is also connected to Stevens athletics beyond men’s basketball, reflecting a long-term commitment to the department and its student-athletes. Collins’ impact extends to women’s basketball as well, where he spent two seasons on the staff (2007–08 and 2008–09) and helped the program earn its first Empire 8 Championship and first NCAA Tournament win while approaching 50 total wins across those two years. Off the court, he has served as assistant director of campus recreation and was honored in 2011 with the Edwin “Doc” Farrell Award, recognizing integrity, service, conduct, and dedication to the athletics program. As a player, Collins suited up for Stevens during a senior season in which the Ducks went 23–7, earned the program’s first at-large NCAA bid, won two tournament games, and advanced to the Sweet 16. He later earned a master’s degree in exercise physiology (coaching and conditioning) from LIU-Brooklyn and has worked since 2016 in basketball training and youth programming at Basketball City @ Pier 36 in Manhattan.
