Melyssa Lombardi has served as the head coach of the University of Oregon softball program since 2019, bringing with her an elite championship pedigree developed over 21 seasons at Oklahoma. Entering her eighth season in 2026, Lombardi has firmly established Oregon as a national contender, highlighted by a landmark 2025 campaign in which she was named Big Ten Coach of the Year. That season, the Ducks went 54-10, captured the Big Ten regular-season title, and advanced to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2018. Oregon also set multiple program records in offensive production and fielding, showcasing Lombardi’s ability to build complete, high-performing teams.
Before arriving in Eugene, Lombardi was a key architect of Oklahoma’s dominance, serving as associate head coach for 11 seasons and helping lead the Sooners to four national championships and numerous conference titles. Known for her expertise with pitchers and catchers, she developed multiple All-Americans and national award winners. At Oregon, Lombardi has continued that success by guiding players to national recognition while consistently competing in NCAA postseason play. Her leadership, player development, and championship experience have made her one of the most respected figures in collegiate softball.
