Meadow McWhorter has served as the head coach of the Portland State University softball program since 2016 and enters her 10th season leading the Vikings in 2026. During her tenure, she has become one of the most successful coaches in program history, ranking second in all-time wins while guiding the team to consistent postseason appearances. McWhorter has led Portland State to seven consecutive Big Sky Tournament appearances, highlighted by a conference championship in 2021 and a runner-up finish in 2024. Her teams have produced numerous all-conference selections and individual award winners, including a Big Sky Player of the Year, while also maintaining strong academic performance with consistent Academic All-Conference and national scholar-athlete recognition.
Before arriving at Portland State, McWhorter built a powerhouse program at Mt. Hood Community College, where she spent 14 seasons as head coach and compiled an outstanding 468–146 record. Her teams captured multiple conference and regional championships, along with five NWAC titles, and she earned multiple Coach of the Year honors. Her sustained excellence led to her induction into the NWAC Hall of Fame in 2022. A former collegiate player at Mt. Hood and Jacksonville State, McWhorter has translated her competitive experience into a coaching career defined by program building, player development, and consistent success at multiple levels of collegiate softball.
