Matt Whall
Associate Head Coach
Matt Whall is currently the Associate Head Coach for both the men’s and women’s golf programs at Florida State University. In this role, he helps lead recruiting, player development, tournament preparation, and program strategy. Whall first joined FSU as an assistant coach in 2018 and served through 2021, during which time the men’s program notched nine tournament wins and three top-six NCAA finishes, while the women’s program secured three wins and three top-twelve NCAA finishes. Florida State University After a stint as head coach of the men’s program at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham), he returned to the Seminoles in his current capacity. During his three seasons as head coach at UAB, Whall led the Blazers to five team championships, four individual championships, and an NCAA Regional appearance (Stockton, 2021). He has also had a prominent role in recruiting and developing elite golfers: while at FSU earlier, he was instrumental in recruiting John Pak, who went on to win multiple national awards (Jack Nicklaus Award, Ben Hogan Award, Fred Haskins Award). Beyond golf, Whall is originally from Lincolnshire, England, and is married to Jenny; they have two children, Noah and Ava.
