Matt Thurmond serves as Head Coach for Arizona State Men's Golf. ASU hired Thurmond to lead the men's golf program on July 25, 2016. His tenure has included a 2024 Pac-12 team title, a 2021-22 NCAA Championship runner-up finish and repeated NCAA match-play appearances.
Thurmond's background includes induction into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 2024 and the development of prominent Sun Devils such as Josele Ballester, the program's first United States Amateur champion since 2000. ASU finished the 2024-25 season ranked third by Clippd, earned the top match-play seed at the NCAA Championship and won team titles at the Sahalee Players Championship, Cabo Collegiate and Thunderbird Invitational.
