Matt Hurwitz is an assistant coach for the Fordham University men's basketball program in Bronx, New York, joining Mike Magpayo's first coaching staff in May 2025. In his first season at Fordham, he was part of a team that finished 17-15 overall and 8-10 in Atlantic 10 play while establishing itself as one of the league's strongest defensive and rebounding groups. The Rams led the conference and ranked 12th nationally in defense, and they also finished among the A-10's top teams in defensive rebounding, rebounding margin, and offensive rebounds per game.
Hurwitz arrived at Fordham after three seasons at UC Riverside, where he contributed to two 20-win campaigns, a 38-22 record in Big West play, and the program's first NIT appearance. In 2024-25, the Highlanders went 21-13 and reached the postseason.
