Matt Freibaum is the associate head coach for Virginia Commonwealth University women's soccer in Richmond, Virginia, a position he assumed in May 2026 after joining the Rams as an assistant coach in May 2025. He entered his second season with VCU in 2026 after a successful first year on staff.
Before arriving at VCU, Freibaum spent four seasons with American University women's soccer, where he served as director of operations, director of player development, and recruiting coordinator. American players earned eight All-Patriot League honors during his time there, and the team's attacking unit improved from the bottom of the league in 2021 to a top-three group by 2024.
