Matt Florer is an assistant coach for the University of Oregon baseball program, joining Mark Wasikowski’s staff ahead of the 2025–26 season as the Ducks’ pitching coach. Florer arrived in Eugene after a highly successful run at the University of San Diego, where he helped build one of the West Coast Conference’s top pitching staffs and contributed to multiple conference championships. Over his coaching career, he has developed All-Americans, conference award winners, and numerous professional pitchers, earning a reputation as a strong recruiter and an effective teacher of pitching development. His addition gives Oregon a coach with a proven track record of helping staffs compete at a high level nationally.
Before Oregon, Florer spent seven seasons at San Diego, including his final two as associate head coach, and earlier coached at Loyola Marymount, his alma mater. His pitchers consistently ranked among conference and national leaders in major categories, and several went on to hear their names called in the MLB Draft. As a former pitcher himself, Florer brings firsthand experience to the role. He played at Loyola Marymount and threw the second no-hitter in program history during his collegiate career. Known for his work with pitchers and recruiting, Florer enters Oregon with strong momentum after helping San Diego win back-to-back West Coast Conference regular-season titles and continue its rise as one of the top programs on the West Coast.
