Mark Yoshino is the longtime Head Coach of the Bellevue College baseball program, entering his 28th season in the role and 33rd year overall with the program. Since taking over in 1994, Yoshino has been a cornerstone of stability and sustained excellence, guiding Bellevue to national recognition and consistent success within the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC). Under his leadership, the program has achieved multiple NWAC championships, including titles in 2007, 2009, and 2011, while earning frequent national rankings. Yoshino’s teams are known not only for their on-field achievements but also for their academic success and player advancement, with more than 250 athletes moving on to four-year institutions and dozens selected in the Major League Baseball draft.
Beyond wins and championships, Yoshino has built a comprehensive program focused on player development, particularly in pitching, where his expertise in biomechanics and performance training has produced numerous professional athletes and major league players. His coaching philosophy emphasizes both athletic and academic growth, reflected in high graduation rates among his players. A former standout pitcher at Interlake High School and Edmonds Community College, Yoshino later competed at the collegiate level while earning academic honors, including the prestigious Art Feiro Award. He holds advanced degrees in sport science and exercise science and serves as a tenured faculty member and department chair at Bellevue College. Widely respected for his contributions, Yoshino is the only individual in NWAC history to be honored as the conference’s top student-athlete, coach, and administrator, underscoring his lasting impact on collegiate athletics.
