Markeia Porter
Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Markeia Porter is in her third season as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach on the staff of Head Coach Isaiah Butler at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC). She joined the program in 2023 after serving previously in the junior college ranks in Missouri. Since her arrival on the Scooba campus, Porter has played a key role in all aspects of the Women’s Basketball program—including player development, recruiting and academic oversight. In her time with the Lady Lions, the team returned to postseason tournament action, and Porter was instrumental in the development of standout guard Dukiaha Jones, as well as helping facilitate a multi-player pipeline to four-year programs.
Prior to her coaching career, Porter played collegiate basketball at Three Rivers College (Poplar Bluff, Missouri) where she averaged 5.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in 61 games over two seasons, then transferred to Elizabeth City State University (North Carolina) and averaged 3.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game over 56 appearances. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sports management (business administration concentration) from ECSU in 2020. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Porter was a four-year varsity starter in high school, earned two All-Seventh Region honors in girls’ basketball, compiled 876 career points and 765 rebounds, and participated in the 2015 Kentucky High School Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game. At EMCC, she also supports the student-athletes academically, contributing to the program’s consistent NJCAA All-Academic Team recognition.
