Mark Benevento is an assistant coach for the Villanova University men's golf program in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and has been on the staff since 2022. In his first season, 2022-23, Villanova posted a program-record 294.39 scoring average, set single-season marks with 408 birdies and two team wins, and became the first team in school history to win consecutive titles.
Before joining the coaching staff, Benevento competed for Villanova as a student-athlete. He appeared in all 12 tournaments for the Wildcats in 2018-19, finished second on the team with a 74.93 stroke average, recorded five rounds under par, and was runner-up with All-Tournament honors at the 2019 BIG EAST Championship. In 2019-20, he played five tournaments and 15 rounds with a 76.60 scoring average. He studied management with a minor in real estate in the Villanova School of Business.
