Marcus Kahn
Head Men's Basketball Coach
Marcus Kahn is in his 12th season as head men's basketball coach at the University of Mary Washington (UMW). He took over in 2014 and has steadily re-built the Eagles into a regional powerhouse, guiding them to the NCAA Division III Tournament Second Round in 2023 and a Sweet-16 appearance in 2025. Prior to his tenure at UMW, Kahn enjoyed great success at Cabrini University, where over six seasons he compiled a 153-27 record (including a 131-19 mark over five seasons), five consecutive conference championships, and a national-championship game appearance in 2011-12.
His coaching path began with assistant roles at Grand View College, Wesley College and Albright College, then moved to the head coach role at University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg before his Cabrini stint. Kahn holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Redlands and a master’s in education from Wesley College. At Mary Washington, he emphasizes program-culture, academic excellence, and performance under pressure — guiding young teams to tournament appearances while maintaining strong academic standards.
