Maiya Otsuka is the acting head coach of the University of Massachusetts Amherst women's swimming and diving program in Amherst, Massachusetts. She moved into the top role after nine seasons as an assistant with the UMass men's and women's teams and entered her 11th season at the school in 2025-26. Otsuka joined the UMass women's staff in August 2015, later expanded her duties to both programs at the start of the 2020-21 season, and has worked with season planning for the individual medley, middle-distance, and stroke groups.
In 2025-26, Otsuka guided UMass to a 5-5 record and a seventh-place finish at the program's first Mid-American Conference Championships. Her team produced 18 all-time top-10 marks during the season. Maria Grishaeva earned bronze in the 200 breaststroke at the conference meet and later received All-MAC Second Team recognition, while Kate Baranova set a freshman record in the 100 breaststroke and the 400 medley relay established a new school record. Danielle Guerin and Khrystyna Yaremyn also advanced to the 2026 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships. Academically, 17 Minutewomen were named to the MAC All-Academic Team and four student-athletes earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
