Maddie Sims
Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Maddie Sims joined the Eckerd College women’s basketball coaching staff in the summer of 2024 and enters her second season as an assistant coach during the 2025–26 campaign. In her first year with the Tritons, she helped guide the program to the Sunshine State Conference Tournament semifinals while contributing to one of the most statistically dominant teams in the nation. During that season, Eckerd led NCAA Division II in rebounds per game and ranked second nationally in defensive field goal percentage, reflecting the program’s emphasis on physicality, defensive discipline, and efficiency.
Prior to arriving at Eckerd, Sims served as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball program at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in New York. Her coaching background is complemented by an accomplished collegiate playing career at the Division I level. Sims spent the first three seasons of her career at Siena College, appearing in 91 games with 51 starts. As a junior, she earned All-MAAC Second Team honors after averaging 12.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.53 blocks per game while recording seven double-doubles. She later transferred to the University of Massachusetts, where she averaged 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds during the 2020–21 season, and concluded her playing career at the University of Delaware.
Sims holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Massachusetts, along with a master’s degree in public policy from UMass and a second master’s degree in international business from the University of Delaware. Her diverse academic background, combined with Division I playing experience and early collegiate coaching success, adds a strong foundation in player development and program growth to the Eckerd women’s basketball staff.
