Luke Bonfield is in his first season as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh baseball program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At Pitt, he oversees recruiting, works with the outfielders, and assists with offensive planning and strategy.
Before joining Pittsburgh, Bonfield spent six years with the University of Tennessee baseball program. He first joined the Volunteers before the 2020 season as a student manager, then was promoted to director of player development in September 2021. After the 2024 season, he moved into the role of director of recruiting operations. During his time on staff, Tennessee made five NCAA Tournament appearances, advanced to five Super Regionals, reached the College World Series three times in 2021, 2023, and 2024, and won the program's first national championship in 2024. The Volunteers also won four SEC titles, including both the regular-season and tournament championships in 2022 and 2024.
