Luke Bennett has built one of the most consistent and competitive collegiate golf programs at Western Washington University, entering his 12th season as head coach of the men’s team in 2025–26 while also leading the women’s program and serving as Director of Golf. Since taking over, Bennett has guided the Vikings to sustained success within the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), earning multiple Coach of the Year honors. His leadership has produced conference championships for both programs, including a sweep of GNAC titles during the 2021–22 season. Under his direction, the men’s team has qualified for NCAA Division II regionals in each of his first 10 seasons, with national championship appearances in 2017 and 2019.
Bennett’s impact extends beyond team accomplishments, as he has helped develop standout individual performers, including All-Americans and national qualifiers. Prior to his head coaching tenure, he gained valuable experience as an assistant women’s coach at WWU and held instructional roles at prominent golf facilities in the Bellingham area, including Bellingham Golf & Country Club and Lake Padden Golf School. A former Viking golfer himself from 2002 to 2005, Bennett earned All-America recognition and contributed to multiple NCAA tournament appearances. His deep connection to the program, combined with his player development expertise, has made him a cornerstone of WWU athletics and a respected leader in collegiate golf.
