Lonnie Pugh is an assistant coach for Towson University women's track and field and cross country in Towson, Maryland, where he has worked since joining the program before the 2021-22 season. He coaches the throwers and also assists with the jumpers.
At Towson, Pugh has coached athletes to strong conference, regional, and national-level results. In 2023, Georgia Coleman recorded 13 top-five finishes and three event wins in the hammer throw, earned All-CAA honors with a third-place finish at the conference championships, won the ECAC outdoor title, and threw 61.82 meters at the NCAA Preliminary Round to become the second woman in program history to exceed 60 meters. Fatimah Owens won the ECAC outdoor title in the discus with the second-best mark in school history at 50.72 meters, qualified for the NCAA Preliminary Round, and added indoor All-CAA honors with a third-place finish in the weight throw.
