Lisa Fortier has led the Gonzaga University women’s basketball program since 2014, building one of the most successful eras in school history. A longtime member of the Bulldogs’ staff before becoming head coach, Fortier brought continuity and vision to the program, quickly establishing sustained excellence in the West Coast Conference. Through her first decade-plus at the helm, she has recorded ten 20-win seasons in her first 11 years and captured multiple WCC regular-season titles, while earning numerous conference and national coaching honors. Her teams have consistently competed on the national stage, including NCAA Tournament appearances and a Sweet 16 run, while maintaining a reputation for disciplined, high-level play.
Fortier has also overseen the development of elite student-athletes, with multiple WCC Players of the Year, All-Americans, and academic honorees emerging under her guidance. Her 2023–24 squad achieved historic success, including a program-record 24-game winning streak, an undefeated conference season, and a Sweet 16 appearance highlighted by a landmark victory over a top-ranked opponent. Beyond on-court achievements, Fortier emphasizes academic excellence and leadership development, with dozens of players earning all-academic recognition. A former collegiate player and academic standout herself, she brings a holistic coaching philosophy rooted in preparation, integrity, and player growth. Her impact has solidified Gonzaga as a nationally respected program in women’s college basketball.
