Latara King serves as associate head coach for the University of Washington women’s basketball program, where she has played a key role in the team’s resurgence under head coach Tina Langley. Entering her fifth season with the Huskies in 2025–26, King has been instrumental in both on-court success and program development. During the 2024–25 season, she helped guide Washington back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017 while supporting the team’s transition into the Big Ten. Her scouting and player development contributions helped the Huskies lead the conference in shooting efficiency across multiple categories, including field goal, three-point, and free throw percentage. In addition to her tactical impact, King has overseen recruiting efforts that brought in multiple top-15 classes, including a historic five-star recruit, while maintaining strong academic performance within the program.
Before arriving in Seattle, King worked alongside Langley at Rice University, where she contributed to one of the most successful stretches in program history. During her three seasons there, Rice compiled a 72–16 record, captured multiple Conference USA titles, and won the 2021 WNIT Championship. King’s earlier coaching experience includes roles at Monmouth, Boston College, Florida State, and Florida Memorial, where she developed a reputation as a strong recruiter and player mentor. At Florida State, she was part of a staff that reached the Elite Eight, further strengthening her postseason experience. A former player at Florida Memorial University, King was a team captain and helped lead her program to a conference championship. Her well-rounded background in coaching, recruiting, and player development continues to make her a vital asset to Washington’s sustained success.
