Larry Vickers
Head Coach
Larry Vickers is an American collegiate basketball coach who took over as the head coach of the Auburn University women’s basketball program in March 2025 after an extraordinary decade leading the Norfolk State University women’s team. At Norfolk State, Vickers turned around a struggling program into a consistent contender, amassing a 177–99 overall record and a 97–41 mark in conference play. Under his leadership, the Spartans achieved four consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season championships and three straight MEAC Tournament titles, earning consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. His success also included national recognition, such as the Kay Yow Award and three MEAC Coach of the Year honors.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Vickers was a standout walk-on player at Norfolk State, where he played from 2004 to 2008 before launching his coaching career. After serving as an assistant and associate head coach with the men’s program, he transitioned to women’s basketball and quickly made a significant impact, revitalizing the Spartans’ competitive standing. In his first season with Auburn, Vickers brings his defensive-minded philosophy and proven program-building skills to the Southeastern Conference, one of the most competitive landscapes in women’s college basketball. He is widely respected for his leadership, commitment to player development, and transformative coaching style.
