Lamont Franklin is an assistant coach for George Washington men's basketball in Washington, D.C. Promoted to the position in June 2023, he entered his fourth year on the GW staff after serving as Director of Player Development in 2022-23 and as Special Assistant to the Head Coach and Director of Scouting in 2021-22.
In his first two seasons with the program, Franklin advised the head coach on opponent scouting, film study, data analysis, and game planning. He was connected to the progress of several George Washington players, including A-10 Rookie of the Year Maximus Edwards, A-10 Most Improved Player Brendan Adams, and first-team all-conference selection James Bishop IV in 2022-23. He also contributed to the recruitment and success of Darren Buchanan Jr., who earned A-10 All-Rookie honors in 2023-24. A native of the DMV area, Franklin has also been part of George Washington's efforts to keep local players in the program.
