Kyle Schmitt is in his first season as tight ends coach for the University of Maryland football program in College Park, Maryland, returning to a school where he previously played and coached.
Schmitt joined Maryland after a long and successful run in Maryland high school football. He was the head coach at Archbishop Spalding from 2013 to 2025, leading the program to sustained success on the state and national levels. Six players on Maryland's current roster previously played for him at Spalding. Before that, he served as head coach at Atholton High School from 2009 to 2012. He began his college coaching career in 2006 as tight ends coach at St. Vincent College.
