Kyle Jones

Associate Head Coach

Kyle Jones begins his first season at Alabama A&M University as the associate head coach for the Bulldogs’ men’s basketball program. He arrives in Huntsville after 12 seasons on the coaching staff at Grambling State University, where he played a key role in the Tigers’ rise within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jones helped Grambling capture the 2024 SWAC Tournament Championship and earn a berth in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament. During the 2017-18 season, he contributed to a 17-14 overall record and a 13-5 conference mark, earning recognition as an NABC Top 30 Assistant Under 30. He was also instrumental in back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2022-23 and 2023-24, including a 24-win campaign that set a school record. Over his tenure, Jones helped develop numerous all-conference performers, a SWAC Player of the Year, a Freshman of the Year, and multiple professional players. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jones grew up immersed in basketball, playing under his father, legendary high school coach Mack Jones. He later competed collegiately at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff from 2008 to 2013, where he was part of the program’s first SWAC Championship team in 2010. After earning his Bachelor of Science in English in 2013, he transitioned into coaching and completed a Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Grambling State in 2014. Jones is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Developmental Education. He and his wife, Cymberly, have a son, Bentley, and a dog named Benji.
