Kyle Frakes
Assistant Coach
Kyle Frakes is an experienced collegiate basketball coach who serves as an assistant coach for the Rollins College men’s basketball program in Winter Park, Florida. He has held this role since 1990, making him one of the longest-tenured assistant coaches in the Sunshine State Conference. Over his more than three decades with the Tars, Frakes has been a constant alongside head coach Tom Klusman, contributing to some of the most successful periods in the program’s history. During his tenure, Rollins has claimed eight Sunshine State Conference regular-season championships and made ten appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament, including Elite Eight runs in 2004 and 2017. Frakes is deeply involved in practice planning, player development, and recruiting efforts, helping shape both individual athletes and the team’s competitive identity.
While widely recognized for his basketball coaching contributions, Frakes also serves as the head coach of the Rollins men’s golf program, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to Rollins athletics. Prior to his basketball coaching career, he built a foundation in athletic instruction and team leadership that has translated into sustained success on the hardwood. Frakes’ long association with Rollins basketball has made him a respected figure among peers and players alike, known for his strategic understanding of the game and dedication to the development of student-athletes.
