Kristy Curry
Head Coach
Kristy Curry has served as head coach of the University of Alabama women’s basketball program since May 16, 2013, building the Crimson Tide into a consistent contender in the Southeastern Conference. A native of Olla, Louisiana, Curry entered the 2025–26 season with more than 530 career victories and 13 NCAA Tournament appearances. Under her leadership, Alabama has enjoyed a resurgence marked by four consecutive 20-win seasons, multiple NCAA Tournament berths, and a return to national rankings, including the program’s first Associated Press preseason ranking since 1999. In recent seasons, she has guided the Tide to historic milestones, including multiple WNBA Draft selections in a single year and the program’s fastest start to a 20-win season. Curry earned her 500th career victory in 2023–24 and continues to emphasize academic excellence and community service within the program.
Prior to Alabama, Curry led Texas Tech (2006–13) and Purdue (1999–2006), achieving remarkable success at both stops. At Purdue, she compiled a 179-51 record, won multiple Big Ten championships, and guided the Boilermakers to the 2001 NCAA Championship game, becoming one of the fastest coaches in NCAA history to reach 100 wins. She also became one of a select group of coaches to record 100 or more victories at three different programs. Curry began her coaching career at the high school level in Louisiana before rising through the collegiate ranks with assistant coaching roles at Tulane, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M, and Louisiana Tech. A graduate of Northeast Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin, Curry and her spouse, Kelly, have two daughters, Kelsey and Kendall.
