Kimani Young is the associate head coach for the University of Connecticut men's basketball program in Storrs, Connecticut. He joined Dan Hurley's original UConn staff before the 2018-19 season, served two years as an assistant coach, and was elevated to associate head coach in 2020. He completed his eighth season at Connecticut in 2025-26.
Young has been part of one of the most successful periods in program history. UConn won national championships in 2023 and 2024 while reaching six straight NCAA Tournaments, a school record, and the 2026 team advanced to the Final Four. The 2023-24 Huskies finished 37-3, won both BIG EAST titles, and capped a dominant two-year run. UConn posted top-10 defensive numbers on both championship teams and again on its 2026 Final Four squad. The program went 165-69 with Young on staff, and 130-40 after he moved into the associate head coach position. In 2022, he stepped in after Hurley's ejection during a nationally prominent game against Villanova and directed a win over the eighth-ranked Wildcats, UConn's first victory over a top-10 opponent since 2014.
