Kevin Smith is an assistant coach for Fordham men's basketball in Bronx, New York, joining the Rams' staff in spring 2025 after more than a decade in Division I basketball as both a coach and player. In his first season at Fordham, he was part of a team that finished 17-15 overall and 8-10 in the Atlantic 10 while leading the conference and ranking 12th nationally in defense. The Rams also finished among the Atlantic 10's top rebounding teams, placing in the top three in defensive rebounding, rebounding margin, and offensive rebounds per game.
Before arriving at Fordham, Smith spent three seasons at Charlotte. The 49ers posted winning records in two of those years, including a 22-win season and a CBI championship in his first year on staff. Charlotte followed with a 19-12 record and a 13-5 mark in its first season in the American Athletic Conference. During his time there, several players earned all-conference recognition, including Lu'Cye Patterson, Igor Milicic, and Brice Williams.
