Kevin Farrell
Assistant Coach
Kevin Farrell brings to his assistant-coach role a strong foundation in program operations, recruiting, and player development. After graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Business Administration from his alma mater Loyola University Maryland, Farrell served the Greyhounds men’s basketball program in various capacities—first as a team manager from 2008-12, then as Director of Basketball Operations from 2012-21. During that time, he was part of teams that reached the NCAA Tournament and other postseason opportunities, gaining experience in scheduling, scouting, video operations, travel logistics, student-athlete academic support and overall program building.
Seeking a greater on-court coaching role, Farrell then spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division II level—first at Belmont Abbey College (2021-22), helping the program to a 22-10 record and a Conference Carolinas title, and then at Metropolitan State University of Denver (2022-24), where he helped engineer a roster turnaround and mentored multiple All-Conference and Academic All-Conference student-athletes. In his role as assistant coach at UMW, Farrell’s background in both the operational side and the coaching side equips him to contribute to recruiting, player development, scouting and program infrastructure—with a unique sensitivity to merging academic performance with competitive success, drawing on the institutions he has worked with and his origin as a student-manager.
