Kelly Horning joined Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, as an assistant women's lacrosse coach in fall 2025. A former Fairfield standout, she returned to her alma mater after beginning her coaching career at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, where she worked alongside Kristen Coleman McDaniel and helped the program win three straight Independent School League championships while earning multiple national rankings. Horning also worked as an elementary school teacher in Bethesda, Maryland.
As a Fairfield player from 2018 to 2022, Horning became the first All-American in program history and was part of four MAAC championship teams. She finished her career as the program's all-time leader in ground balls and caused turnovers, ranked third in goals, and stood among the top five in points. Her honors included IWLCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2022, two IWLCA All-Region selections, three All-MAAC First Team selections, and MAAC Midfielder of the Year in 2021. She went 11-0 in MAAC postseason games, earned MAAC All-Championship Team recognition all four years, scored the overtime winner in the 2019 MAAC Championship Game, and was named Championship MVP in 2022. Horning earned a B.S. in Sociology from Fairfield in 2021 and completed an M.A. in Elementary Education in 2022.
