Kelly Horne
Assistant Coach
Kelly Horne was elevated to a full-time assistant coach for the University of South Alabama softball program in the summer of 2024 after serving in a support role during her initial season in Mobile. Originally hired as Director of Player Development in September 2023, Horne assisted with recruiting coordination, database management, film breakdown, camp organization, NIL initiatives, and outreach efforts. In her current role, she works primarily with the Jaguars’ outfield unit while continuing to contribute to recruiting and player development. During her first year on staff, South Alabama advanced to the NCAA Gainesville Regional, highlighted by standout individual performances and continued success within the Sun Belt Conference.
Horne joined the staff following a decorated playing career at Troy University, where she was a three-time All-Sun Belt selection. She earned first-team honors in 2022 and was a finalist for Sun Belt Conference Female Athlete of the Year. Over 232 career games, Horne compiled a .324 batting average with 178 hits, 32 home runs, and 131 RBIs, while ranking second in program history in on-base percentage (.471). In 2022, she led the league in home runs and on-base percentage while earning NFCA All-South Region honors. A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Horne earned her bachelor’s degree in hospitality, sport and tourism management in 2021 and completed her master’s degree in sport administration in 2023, both from Troy University.
