Keith Coutreyer
Assistant Coach/Director of Operations
Keith Coutreyer is in his second season serving as Assistant Coach and Director of Basketball Operations for the Morgan State University men’s basketball program, bringing more than 15 years of collegiate coaching and administrative experience to the Bears. In his dual role, Coutreyer contributes to on-court coaching while overseeing key operational and organizational components of the program, supporting Morgan State’s continued growth within the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. His background in program management, academic oversight, and player development has made him an integral member of the Bears’ staff as they compete at a high level both athletically and academically.
Prior to joining Morgan State, Coutreyer most recently served as Chief of Staff at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore during the 2023–24 season. He also brings extensive MEAC and Big South experience from multiple tenures at Hampton University and a nine-year stretch as Associate Head Coach at Howard University, where he was deeply involved in all facets of the program. At Howard, he later transitioned into a Special Assistant role, focusing on academic engagement initiatives and administrative leadership while mentoring several of the program’s most accomplished players. Before his collegiate career, Coutreyer spent 13 years as a successful high school head coach at Laurel High School, leading the program to county and regional championships and helping dozens of student-athletes advance to NCAA programs. A former collegiate point guard, Coutreyer holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy, reflecting his long-standing commitment to mentorship, education, and student-athlete development.
