Kate Paye was hired as Stanford's Setsuko Ishiyama Director of Women's Basketball on April 16, 2024, becoming the program's head coach after 17 years on Tara VanDerveer's staff. A Stanford alumna, she was part of the Cardinal's 1992 national championship team as a player and the 2021 title team as associate head coach.
Paye has been recognized twice as WBCA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year and helped develop Stanford guards into WNBA first-round picks, All-Americans, and major conference award winners. She also played professionally in the ABL and WNBA, coached at San Diego State and Pepperdine, and earned Stanford degrees in political science, law, and business.
