Kalen DeBoer
Head Coach
Kalen DeBoer is the head football coach at the University of Alabama, a position he has held since early 2024 after succeeding the legendary Nick Saban. DeBoer, a native of Milbank, South Dakota, has built one of the most impressive coaching résumés in college football, known for his offensive acumen, leadership, and program-building ability. Before arriving in Tuscaloosa, he enjoyed coaching success at multiple institutions: he led the University of Washington to a Pac-12 Conference championship and a College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearance in 2023, earning numerous national Coach of the Year awards; he also served as head coach at Fresno State, and earlier at his alma mater, the University of Sioux Falls, where his teams won three NAIA national titles.
During his first season with the Crimson Tide, DeBoer guided Alabama to a 9-4 record, including notable victories and competitive play in one of the nation’s toughest conferences. He emphasizes a culture of accountability, toughness, and player development, both on and off the field. Under his leadership, Alabama continues to adapt and evolve its strategies amid changes within the program, including adjustments to coaching staff and roster dynamics as the team prepares for future seasons in the Southeastern Conference.
