Justin Joyner is a rising figure in collegiate basketball coaching, currently serving as the head coach of the Oregon State men’s basketball program. A native of Antioch, California, Joyner played collegiately at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was a three-time team captain and part of multiple Big West championship teams. Known for his leadership and resilience as a player, he transitioned into coaching after graduation, beginning with grassroots and AAU basketball before earning his first collegiate role at Saint Mary’s College in 2017.
Joyner quickly advanced through the coaching ranks at Saint Mary’s, moving from Director of Basketball Operations to assistant coach and eventually associate head coach. During his tenure, the Gaels experienced sustained success, including conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances. He later joined the University of Michigan staff under head coach Dusty May, contributing to Big Ten success and deep postseason runs. In 2026, Joyner was named head coach at Oregon State, marking his first head coaching role at the Division I level. Recognized for his ability to develop players, recruit talent, and build strong relationships, Joyner is tasked with leading the Beavers into a new era of Pac-12 competition while establishing a competitive and culture-driven program.
