Julie Weddle
Diving Coach
Julie Weddle embarked on her role at Colorado Mesa University in August 2024, bringing two decades of NCAA Division I coaching experience to Grand Junction. Before joining the Mavericks, she spent ten years (2013-23) as Head Diving Coach at the University of New Mexico, where she developed 15 NCAA Division I Zone Qualifiers. Prior to that, Julie spent another ten years (2003-13) at UNLV in Las Vegas—her hometown—where her divers amassed 20 Zone qualifiers and contributed to eight conference titles across men’s and women’s programs. She began her coaching career in youth and club diving, serving as Head Diving Instructor for the City of Henderson Parks & Recreation starting in 1997, and coaching with Nevada Diving Club and Clark County School District in the early 2000s.
As an athlete, Julie competed at the University of Nevada from 1998-2002, earning four varsity letters and qualifying three times for NCAA Division I Zone meets. She earned a degree in health ecology in 2002. At Colorado Mesa she joined a strong Maverick Aquatics tradition, where the swimming & diving teams have swept multiple Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference titles and placed highly at the NCAA Division II Championships. Outside of the pool, Julie enjoys paddleboarding, any water-related activity, mountain biking and hiking, and has family ties in the Grand Junction area—making the move to Colorado a natural fit.
