Biography:
Julian Diaz enters his third season as head coach of the Drew University men’s volleyball program in 2025–26, continuing to build momentum for the Rangers’ young varsity team. In 2025, he guided Drew to its first-ever postseason appearance, as the Rangers qualified for the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) playoffs in their inaugural season in the league. The previous year marked a significant step forward, with the team finishing 14–15 — a five-win improvement over each of the program’s first two varsity seasons. Drew also excelled at home, posting an impressive 8–2 record in Baldwin Gym, signaling the program’s growing competitiveness under Diaz’s leadership.
Prior to becoming head coach, Diaz served as an assistant for the Rangers during the 2023 season. He brings extensive experience from the New Jersey volleyball community, serving as head boys volleyball coach at Donald Payne Tech High School since 2021 and as an assistant girls coach there since 2020. He has also led club programs, including the 18s Boys VB Rags Volleyball Club team and Rec It Volleyball Club, and has worked as a director and head coach for Nike Volleyball Camps. In 2022, Diaz was recognized as one of 18 recipients of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Diversity Award. He earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2018.
