JT Wenger was named head coach of the Gonzaga University women’s volleyball program after a highly successful tenure at UT Arlington, where he spent eight seasons building a winning culture. During his time with the Mavericks, Wenger compiled 141 victories and led the program to new heights, including a 29-3 season, a Western Athletic Conference championship, and an NCAA Tournament appearance. His teams consistently improved under his leadership, highlighted by conference tournament runs, postseason appearances, and a historic undefeated conference season. Wenger’s success earned him WAC Coach of the Year honors and recognition for both competitive excellence and academic achievement, with his teams earning AVCA Team Academic Awards.
Prior to his head coaching career, Wenger gained extensive experience at top collegiate programs, including Michigan State, Colorado, and UCLA. At each stop, he contributed to NCAA Tournament teams and helped develop nationally competitive rosters. A former standout player at UCLA, Wenger was part of a national championship team and later competed professionally. He has also been involved with USA Volleyball in multiple coaching roles, further expanding his experience at the international level. Known for his leadership, player development, and program-building ability, Wenger brings a wealth of experience and a championship mindset to Gonzaga as he looks to elevate the Bulldogs within the West Coast Conference.
