Jose Rebimbas
Assistant Coach
Jose Rebimbas has served as an assistant coach for the Seton Hall University women’s basketball program since June 2019 after initially joining head coach Anthony Bozzella’s staff prior to the 2017-18 season as Director of Player Development. In his current role, Rebimbas contributes his extensive head coaching experience and deep institutional knowledge to player development, game preparation, and program leadership. His return to Seton Hall marked a homecoming, as he was a men’s basketball student-athlete for the Pirates from 1986-90. A walk-on from Seton Hall Prep, he made two NCAA Tournament appearances and was a member of the historic 1989 team that advanced to the Final Four, playing in the national semifinal victory over Duke.
Following his collegiate playing career, Rebimbas transitioned into coaching, beginning with three years as an assistant and interim coach at Montclair State before taking over as head men’s basketball coach at William Paterson University. Over 20 seasons (1995-2015), he built the Pioneers into a Division III powerhouse, compiling a 384-168 record, capturing six New Jersey Athletic Conference titles, and earning nine NCAA Tournament berths. His teams reached the Final Four in 1999 and advanced to the national championship game in 2001. A three-time NJAC Coach of the Year and four-time Metropolitan Basketball Writers Coach of the Year, Rebimbas later spent the 2016-17 season as an assistant coach with the Fairleigh Dickinson women’s program before returning to Seton Hall. He earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Seton Hall in 1990 and a master’s degree in general professional education in 1992.
