Jon Scheyer
Head Coach
Jon Scheyer, born August 24, 1987, is the 20th head coach in the storied men’s basketball program at Duke University. After an illustrious playing career at Duke—where he amassed over 2,000 points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists, 250 three-pointers and 200 steals, becoming the only player in school history to hit all those marks—he helped guide the Blue Devils to an NCAA championship in 2010 and served as a two-time team captain. Following his graduation in 2010 with a B.A. in History, Scheyer played professionally in the NBA D-League and overseas before returning to his alma mater in 2013 as a special assistant. He then served as assistant coach (2014-18), associate head coach (2018-22) and was named head coach in June 2021.
In his first three seasons at the helm (2022-25), Scheyer rapidly built on the strong legacy of Duke basketball, leading the Blue Devils to an NCAA Final Four (2025), capturing both the ACC regular-season and tournament titles, and setting program records for wins and efficiency. His track record as a recruiter and developer of top-tier talent has been equally impressive—under his leadership Duke has continued to land elite recruiting classes, coach All-Americans and produce NBA first-round picks. Off the court, Scheyer is deeply engaged in the Durham community and emphasizes both athlete development and academic excellence.
