Jon Haruguchi was named head coach of the Eastern Washington University women’s volleyball program in March 2022, becoming the eighth head coach in program history. Since taking over, he has focused on building a competitive and sustainable culture within the Big Sky Conference. In his first three seasons, Haruguchi guided the Eagles to consistent conference tournament appearances and steady improvement in league play, including an 8-8 conference record in 2024. His leadership has also produced individual success, highlighted by Quincy Moran earning Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors in 2024—the program’s first recipient of the award in nearly two decades—along with multiple All-Big Sky selections.
Prior to Eastern Washington, Haruguchi spent six seasons at the University of Northern Colorado, where he played a key role in one of the Big Sky’s top programs. As an assistant and later associate head coach, he helped lead the Bears to multiple conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances while coaching several all-conference and award-winning players. His earlier coaching experience includes stops at Dartmouth, Louisiana, and Southeastern Louisiana, where he contributed to recruiting, player development, and match preparation. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Haruguchi brings decades of coaching experience and a strong emphasis on culture-building, player growth, and competitive excellence to the Eagles program.
