Jon Fridal
Head Men's Soccer Coach
Jon Fridal became the fourth head coach in the history of the Colorado Mesa University (CMU) men’s soccer program ahead of the 2020 season (which played in spring 2021 due to the pandemic). On his first full schedule in the fall of 2021, he guided the Mavericks to a second-place finish in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), the program’s third RMAC Tournament championship, and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Prior to his tenure at CMU, Fridal was the head men's soccer coach at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) from 2018–2020, where he posted a 20-13-3 (.597) record. His 2019 ENMU team set a program record at 12-5-1, achieved three wins over nationally ranked opponents (including a victory at CMU), and reached a national ranking as high as No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
Before his head-coaching assignments, Fridal held assistant coaching roles at Maryville University (St. Louis) from 2010-14 and at Alderson Broaddus University from 2014-15, in addition to extensive youth development work (including roles with U11-U14 boys programs and Olympic Development). Fridal is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He played NCAA Division I soccer at Saint Francis University and at Western Illinois University, where he earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology in 2019.
