Jonathan Brewer
Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Jonathan Brewer joined the Duke University football staff in December 2023 as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. In his first season with the Blue Devils, Brewer guided the offense to significant milestones: under his direction, quarterback Maalik Murphy completed 254 of 421 passes for 2,933 yards and 26 touchdowns, setting or matching numerous program single-season marks. Brewer also led quarterback Henry Belin IV through the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, where he completed 25 of 44 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns—achievements that ranked among the top-six bowl game performances in school history.
Before arriving in Durham, Brewer spent two seasons (2022-23) at Southern Methodist University (SMU) as Quarterbacks Coach and then Co-Offensive Coordinator. During that time he helped the Mustangs compile an 18-9 overall record, a 13-3 mark in American Athletic Conference play, and a 2023 conference title. His offenses ranked among the nation’s top 25 in multiple major categories including scoring, red-zone efficiency and total offense. Earlier in his career, Brewer served as Senior Offensive Quality Control Coach under Manny Diaz at the University of Miami (2020-21), where the Hurricanes improved markedly in total offense, passing efficiency and red-zone performance. A native of Rogers, Arkansas, Brewer holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (Arkansas, 2010) and a master’s in adult education (Auburn, 2014).
