JoJo Howie is the pitching coach for the Virginia Commonwealth University baseball program in Richmond, Virginia, returning to VCU in August 2024 after seven seasons coaching at the junior college level.
Howie came back to his alma mater after serving as head coach at Central Arizona College in 2024, when he led the Vaqueros to a 45-14 record, an NJCAA Tournament appearance, and a No. 18 national ranking in the final NJCAA Division I poll. He had previously spent two seasons as Central Arizona's pitching coach and was part of the program's 2022 NJCAA Division I World Series championship staff. Over his three seasons there, Central Arizona went 151-39, including a 106-25 mark while he directed the pitching staff. His pitching staffs led the nation in ERA in 2023 and 2024 after finishing fifth nationally in 2022, and three of his pitchers earned NJCAA All-America recognition.
