John Valente has served as assistant coach and hitting coach for St. John's baseball in Queens, New York, since returning to the program in September 2024.
A standout former player at St. John's, Valente built one of the top offensive careers in program history. He was a lifetime .353 hitter and helped the Red Storm post four winning seasons, three 40-win campaigns, and two BIG EAST championships during his time as a student-athlete. After appearing 20 times as a freshman on the 2015 conference championship team, he moved into a regular role in 2016 and led the team with a .341 batting average. He later earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors twice, hit .375 as a redshirt junior and .360 as a graduate student in 2018, and became the first player in program history to be named BIG EAST Player of the Year.
