Johnny Estelle is an assistant coach for the West Virginia University men's basketball program in Morgantown, West Virginia, joining Ross Hodge's first staff in spring 2025.
Estelle arrived at West Virginia with nearly 30 years of coaching experience, including 14 as a head coach. In his first season with the Mountaineers in 2025-26, West Virginia won 21 games, captured the 2026 College Basketball Crown in Las Vegas with victories over Stanford, Creighton and Oklahoma, and finished seventh in the Big 12 after being picked 11th in the preseason poll. The Mountaineers, who returned no scoring from the previous season, also opened the year 13-0 at home, their best home start since 1981-82. Among the season's notable results were ranked wins over No. 19 BYU and No. 22 Kansas, a 22-point victory over Pitt that marked the program's largest margin over the Panthers in Morgantown's Hope Coliseum era, and major second-half comebacks on the road at UCF and Cincinnati.
