John Michael Hayden is the head coach of the University of Louisville men's soccer program in Louisville, Kentucky, a position he has held since being appointed on Dec. 27, 2018. A Louisville native and former Cardinals assistant, he became the fifth head coach in program history after four seasons on the staff. Through seven seasons leading Louisville, he has posted a 57-49-19 overall record with four NCAA Tournament appearances, and his tenure includes the program's first ACC Atlantic Division championship in 2021. His teams have produced 13 All-Conference selections and eight MLS SuperDraft picks.
Hayden's first season as head coach came in 2019, when Louisville went 10-8-2 and returned to the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals handed eventual national champion Georgetown its only defeat of the season and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating UC Davis. Cherif Dieye earned All-ACC and all-region recognition and later became an MLS SuperDraft selection.
