John Lagerfeldt is an assistant baseball coach at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and is entering his third season with the Stags. Over his first two full seasons, Fairfield totaled 195 stolen bases, the program's best back-to-back mark since 1976-77, with 95 steals in 2025 and 100 in 2026, both among the top five single-season totals in school history. Five players recorded at least 15 steals during that span, and TJ Schmalzle's 25 steals ranked seventh in program history. Fairfield also posted a .972 fielding percentage across those two seasons, the best two-year defensive mark in program history.
Before arriving at Fairfield, Lagerfeldt coached for two seasons at the University of Bridgeport, where he oversaw the offensive approach and also worked with baserunning, infield defense, and first and third base. He previously spent two seasons at Greenville University in Illinois, coaching hitting, infield defense, and baserunning, while also designing the program's year-round strength and conditioning plan and preparing opponent scouting reports. A graduate of Gordon College, Lagerfeldt was a four-year infielder for the Fighting Scots.
